Get ready for a hilly hike! This place is big! If you like landscape architecture- this place is for you! Lots of corten steel retaining walls. California garden didn’t have lots of different Californian plants represented, but still a nice collection. There is a good bonsai collection. Also lots of great city views from this garden.
Set on Montjuïc’s quiet slopes, the Jardí Botànic de Barcelona is a serene, design-led promenade through five Mediterranean-climate regions—an elegant way to read the city’s relationship with light, drought, and landscape. Its close ties to the Institut Botànic lend the visit a distinctly Catalan, research-minded sensibility, where wellbeing comes from attentive walking and botanical culture rather than spectacle. Please note: the Historic Botanical Garden is currently closed due to slope improvement works (from July 29 until further notice).
