Some days the beach was beautiful. On the other day the water was dirty and a lot of alge. Also jellyfish. A bit further up the beach it stunk like sewage.
Nova Icària is the gentler face of Barcelona’s seafront—an easy, family-friendly stretch shaped by the Vila Olímpica era, where the pace feels notably calmer than the central beaches. Come for a swim and a long, unhurried afternoon, with excellent sports facilities and the easy circuit of Port Olímpic cafés nearby. A glance toward Frank Gehry’s shimmering fish sculpture adds a distinctly contemporary Catalan note to the horizon.
Visitor impressions
Nova Icaria is towards the right of the central Beach Bogatell along the Promenade. It has a large area designed specifically to accommodate people with physical disabilities. There are also restaurants and bars, public bathrooms and outside showers. A good police presence.
fantastic beach located near the city center with friendly atmosphere. Good for families with children, and offers a lively vibe with plenty of beach bars, restaurants, and water sports like paddleboarding.
