Somorrostro Beach

Somorrostro Beach – place in Barcelona

Somorrostro Beach is a recommendation in the curated guide of Almanac Barcelona.

Somorrostro is Barcelona at its most urban and sunlit: a broad, animated strand just beyond Barceloneta where morning swims, volleyball courts and sailing schools share the sand with an easy, social rhythm. With the Olympic Port beside you and a runway of beachside dining—from the local, paella-minded Ca la Nuri to the contemporary mood of Bestial—the beach slips effortlessly from daytime sport to Mediterranean aperitivo culture. Come early for a calmer, more local cadence; linger into late afternoon as the city’s seaside energy begins to glow.

Beautiful beach with very clean sand and warm water. There are sunbeds available to hire at €15 euros per bed and per brolly, which is quite pricey at €45 per day for two people but attentive staff running them. Lots of people and locals, very busy but a good vibe. Some lovely beach bars along the front - quite posh so wear suitable clothing and shoes. It would be good if there were cheaper options too for buying…

Somorrostro Beach felt relaxed and had a bit more space than the others, with a nice mix of locals and a few tourists. The atmosphere was perfect for unwinding by the water, and there were nearby spots for drinks and snacks after a swim.
