Alte Schmiede is literal: from 1880, the Schmirler family’s forge worked in the vaults of Schönlaterngasse 9 (the hanging key on the right), with four hearths, apprentices and ironwork from railings to grave crosses. People were so nice even I couldn’t speak German. Open to deep conversation of literature and music. Doing something similar to Shakespeare and Company in Paris or even more.
Allow me to do my comments in English. It would be sad for the tourists not to know, what this is for a great place. They do readings from Austrian and international literature. The also host super evens like Writers in Prison (which is lots of English, so come by!). They work in collaberation with tons of great artists, writers and musicians. If you get the chance, look inside!!!
