In den Sälen entfaltet sich eine Sammlung von seltener Dichte – von Bruegels weltgrößtem Konvolut bis zu Meisterwerken von Raffael, Vermeer oder Tizian – und in der Kunstkammer jene faszinierende Habsburger Lust am Wunderbaren, von Exotica bis zur legendären Saliera. Ein Besuch wirkt wie ein präzise kuratiertes Porträt Wiens: imperial im Hintergrund, aber heute als stilvoller Fixpunkt des kulturellen Stadtlebens.
Stunning museum full of art, history & marvellous architecture ; despite visiting on a week day, it was quite full (keep that in mind if you are overwhelmed by crowds); it took us 6 hours to see everything in a quick glance so plan your itinerary accordingly and see beforehand what type of exhibitions are available to know what you want to see, to not feel overwhelmed by the amount of halls and pieces
This museum is one of the top must-visit places when you go to Vienna. If I had more time, I could easily spend more than a day here. You can witness significant works that have left their mark on the art history of every civilization in this museum.
This is the most impressive museum I’ve ever been inside. It’s clearly built to house great works of art, and it does a spectacular job of it. The Peter Brueghel collection alone was great, but through in works from ancient Egypt through the Greek and Roman Empires and you have an amazing collection. Seeing treasured items from our past is a special treat. If you are in Vienna, don’t miss this place.
