Tucked inside the historic Heiligenkreuzerhof, Buxbaum feels like a quiet Viennese secret—gracious, relaxed, and run with unmistakable care. The kitchen works pristine Austrian ingredients into light, precisely flavoured plates, from impeccably seasoned beef tartare to fish in bright citrus stock, with the wine list leaning toward thoughtfully chosen local vintners. It’s a contemporary expression of Vienna’s food culture: understated, ingredient-led, and quietly confident.

Visitor impressions
From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. Our first time in Vienna, not knowing what to expect, we are so grateful to have found Buxbaum. The service was outstanding, entertaining, and just the right mix of there when you wanted something, private when you wanted that too. I feel I could have ordered literally anything in the menu and been blown away… my fiancé had the Buxbaum 4 course offering and I opted…
This was the most delicious dinner I’ve had in Vienna during my 4-day trip. The food was excellent and the service was good. However, the room where we were seated was extremely quiet - another table was nearby, we almost had to whisper, which I personally didn’t like.
Stylish and lovely spot, I had the most delicious artichoke soup of my life and a fantastic lobster pasta. Truly a delightful experience from start to finish. PS: The only thing I wish — just a slightly bigger portion of that amazing soup! Otherwise, everything was perfect.
