FOTO ARSENAL WIEN brings Vienna’s lens-based culture into sharp focus within a protected 1959 brick building in the Arsenal—more studio-like than museum, with a lively programme of rotating exhibitions spanning historical photography and today’s analog–digital edge. Paired with the neighbouring Filmmuseum LAB and a café with Schanigarten, it feels embedded in the city’s contemporary rhythm, in easy cultural conversation with Belvedere 21 and the surrounding institutions.
Visitor impressions
The new site of the Museum is far away from the center. The Exhibitionspace is large, the shop has great variety of books. The toilet is gender neutral- difficult to find. No coffee shop. It is worth a trip.
Very nice photo collections with mainly the work of Henri Cartier, who met Mahatma Gandhi and Malcolm X and experience the divided Germany. Furthermore a shor but nice exhibition with Vienna seen from above.
